CupLink does not provide a general VPN service to users - it doesn’t allow users choose arbitrary servers, anonymize their internet traffic, or tunnel unrelated application data for privacy. CupLink’s use of VpnService (VPN) is restricted to its own in-app communication layer such as secure peer-to-peer mesh networking between CupLink nodes. The VPN component is used only to route CupLink’s own packets, not all device traffic.

Core Functionality

The application's primary functionality relies on a VpnService that creates a mesh network overlay. VpnService is essential for the application to operate correctly.

How CupLink Works in Seven Steps:

1. User installs CupLink™ application
2. App automatically starts the MainService VpnService in background
3. VpnService establishes a connection using a secure tunnel (v6Space™)
4. IPv6 address is self-generated and assigned to device
5. Communication is routed through the mesh overlay network without traditional internet infrastructure
6. Contacts are exchanged via QR codes or text blobs
7. Calls are established directly using devices self generated IPv6 addresses

Technical Implementation

• CupLink™ uses Android's VpnService framework to connect to v6Space™ overlay network
• libsodium handles encryption and authentication for database and communication
• WebRTC handles audio/video communication protocols
